Come sit on Tobbot's knee and tell him all about it! :)

Alternatively, you can go and see "Bad Girls" live in action, at the Garrick Theatre, in Leicester Square.

Those of you who followed the TV series will already be familiar with the storyline; yes, it is about girls banged up in a prison. There's a new governor in town, Helen Stewart, and she's trying out something different; she's gonna try and treat the inmates as *gasp* human beings!

The older and wiser prisoner officers, Sylvie and Jim don't agree with all this new age thinking, preferring to use 'jailcraft'. Jim also likes to use the girls for other purposes, which, dear reader, I will leave to your sordid imaginations...

Unfortunately, things come a cropper when Jimmy decides to share some lurve with new inmate Rachel, who vehemently protests by hanging herself in her cell. A prison riot ensues, the girls go on hunger strike, and the finale, where the girls hatch a cunning plan to sting Jim, is audacious and stunning.

What can I say about the performance? It's not exactly la-di-da, but then again, this is a far more grittier production than Mary Poppins or My Fair Lady. And the sets and props reflect the dreary existence which is doing porridge. Actually, the effects are really high-tech, with good use of video projection and a toilet which pops out of the floor for scenes set in the prison cells. The whole thing is slick, harsh but extremely funny, and those girls can really belt out some songs; my personal favourite is a fantastic tap-dancing scene featuring the entire cast.

If you are looking for an entertaining night out, then look no further than a night in with the Bad Girls.

"Lock down will now commence!"
