For those who don't visit the West End that often, The Novello is our beloved re-vamped Strand Theatre.
This was a great 80s trip for me, having said that, I never did have a chance to watch the then virtually unknown Madonna strut her stuff in NY in the original film.
I was a great Blondie fan though, and the way the production segued songs like "Heart of Glass," "Call Me," "
One Way or Another," and "Hanging on the Telephone" into the scenes was spine-tingling. They did incorporate a host of hits, and apparently Debbie Harry and Chris Stein also wrote a song "Moment of Truth" especially for the play. The acting was stupendous, the effects and props simply marvelous, and there wasn't a single dull moment. Considering that there is also a free magic show, I cannot recommend it enough. If you would like further information about the play, performances and bookings, click right here!
All together now, "Call Me!"

I think I saw the film at the time, but to be honest, as a refugee from the '70s, the '80s really passed me by and I never really got it.
The production I would love to see at the moment is 'War Horse' at the National.
I'm really skint though, and the combination of tickets (from £22, and I wouldn't really enjoy it on my own which means treating someone), travel and overnight accommodation puts it well out of my league.
Judging by the reviews, I reckon I'd also need at least one box of man-sized tissues to see me throw the show.
Hopefully they will bring the production to Birmingham or Bristol, but I won't hold my breath.
Bugger.
