It all started with last night's viewing of 'Borat,' which features an Eastern European soundtrack.
I'd already heard some of the songs on a cd a friend had given me 7 years ago, so I knew the titles to the songs, however, I had no idea who the artist was, or the significance of the music I was listening to.
I'm talking about two songs, 'Ederlezi' and 'Kalashnikov' by Goran Bregovic.
Luckily, a quick trip to imdb.com soon told me all I needed to now about this Bosnian composer.
A browse through YouTube came up with this fabulous rendition of Ederlezi by Magdi Ruzsa, winner of Hungary's version of Pop Idol, 'Megastar'.
Magdi also had the raw power to bring tears to the judges' eyes, and is now Hungary's entry into the Eurovision Song Contest, (not necessarily a good thing, her song, Aprocska Blue is rather tacky).
This 20 year old can only be a reincarnation of Janis Joplin; she certainly has the voice, though I'm not too sure whether she has the mannerisms, as I've never seen any of Janis' concert footage.
Have a look, and judge for yourself!

My husband laughed and laughed while watching Borat. he loved this movie. Cheers
